Sprockets and Drives for Clarifier Scrapers

We offer sprockets for clarifier scraper systems: integrally molded HMAX 720-type sprockets with a UHMW tooth profile and a split polyurethane hub, non-metallic sprockets with shear-pin overload protection, and jaw clutch assemblies. HMAX sprockets are available in 23-, 19-, and 17-tooth configurations and run with non-metallic as well as steel or cast-iron 720-series chains. Shear-pin assemblies protect the collector drive from the consequences of an overload: if the system jams, the shear pin breaks and the extending trip pin can work with a limit switch, shutting off the motor or triggering an alarm. All sprockets are maintenance-free — they require no lubrication and do not corrode in the wastewater environment.

HMAX Sprockets — Integrally Molded

720-style sprockets in a three-piece, integrally molded design. Teeth of extreme wear resistance, split polyurethane hub.

  • UHMW tooth profile
  • Split polyurethane hub
  • Glass-reinforced nylon bore
  • 23 / 19 / 17 tooth configurations

Non-Metallic Shearpin Sprocket

Non-metallic sprocket with urethane hub and Nylon 6 teeth, with a shear-pin assembly protecting the drive from overload.

  • Urethane hub, Nylon 6 teeth
  • Trip pin — trip signalling
  • Optional limit switch / alarm
  • Bores 20–80 mm

Jaw Clutch / Shearpin Assembly

Heavy-duty jaw clutch / shear-pin assembly with cast nylon bodies and shear protection. Omni-directional hub for smooth drive engagement.

  • Cast nylon bodies
  • No lubrication, no zerk fittings
  • For 10- and 11-tooth sprockets
  • Trip arm + optional limit switch

Frequently asked questions

How does the shear-pin protection in a sprocket work?

Under overload (e.g., a jammed scraper), the aluminum shear pin breaks in a controlled way, disconnecting the drive before the chain, shaft, or gearbox is damaged. The extending trip pin can additionally actuate a limit switch to stop the motor or trigger an alarm.

Do HMAX sprockets fit existing cast-iron chains?

Yes — HMAX 720 sprockets work with cast-iron, steel, and non-metallic 720-series chains. You can use them in a phased upgrade: sprockets first, chain later (or the other way around).

What shaft bores are available?

Shear-pin sprockets are available with bores from 20 to 80 mm, standard in an 11-tooth configuration (other sizes on request). HMAX 720 sprockets come in 23-, 19-, and 17-tooth configurations with a glass-reinforced nylon bore.

Do the sprockets require lubrication?

No. The polyurethane hub and nylon/UHMW teeth run maintenance-free for their entire service life — no grease fittings and no lubrication lines, which eliminates inspection costs.
